This is a quick review of the WE Tech 1911 gas blow back airsoft pistol. I recently aquired this in a trade for my Tokyo Marui 1911. The TM was a nice looking pistol and from all other accounts a well made detailed pistol. My concern or perhaps my dislike of the TM was the fact that it was entirely made of abs plastic. Granted it had a good weight to it and could handle green gas ( propane) I am not fond of non metal guns. Now onto the WE 1911.
Primary points of interest:
*full metal construction
*adjustable hop up system
*gas blowback
*single & double action along with half cocked
*dual safety system with selector switch and grip safety
The WE 1911 feels a bit heavier than the TM. Holding it you can appreciate it's quality and feel. The pistol looks the part of it's real steel counter part in every detail. The lack of trades is of course what it does lack. Unlike the TM which has the full colt markings on the slide the WE 1911 is completely bare. This however leaves the option of having custom engravings done etc. I have seen a few pics of custom engraving work which turned out very nice. I may choose to do this at a later date. The addition of real wood grips with the colt medallion is something I would like to do in the future. The stainless steel barrel on the WE 1911 is definitely nicer looking in my opinion than the black barrel found on the TM 1911.
The gun is constructed of full metal with the exception of the hand checkered grips. They are made of abs plastic. I found the finish of the grips to have a more plastic look on them than the TM counter part. Nonetheless the grips are very easy to hold and give the shooter a firm hold on the pistol.
Firing the pistol I found it to be accurate and provide a crisp clean blow back. The single stack magazine works well enough. It holds 15 bbs. I only load 10 bbs to ensure the mag can push out the most efficient fps out of the rounds. This also makes the slide lock back when the last round is fired. There are various reports that the slide will not lock back because the magazine expends too much gas and by the time it fires the 15th shot there is not enough power to lock the slide.
My chrony results for the WE 1911 are as follows
314.9
300.8
298.8
297.8
318.1
294.1
288.1
with an avg fps of 301.8
The finish on the WE 1911 is fairly nice. It is made to look parkerized. It comes off very smoothly though I have noticed that on the rear of the slide a little of the paint has worn off showing the silver metal underneath. As long as not too much more of this paint wearing happens it isnt a big factor. A little wear gives it that realistic look.
Overall I am very happy with this pistol. Below is a picture of the TM1911 for comparison purposes. Thanks for looking.
Below are some results from 17' shooting off hand with the WE 1911
